Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM-CSIC)

My name is Àlex Gàlvez, and I am originally from Barcelona (Catalunya). I completed my PhD at the Institut de Biologia Evolutiva, where I focused on understanding protist biodiversity through a combination of experimental and computational approaches.

During my academic training, I developed strong skills in molecular biology, microbiology, and bioinformatics. My research has spanned from working with natural samples and cultured organisms to analyzing their gene and protein sequences, allowing me to gain an integrated view of protist biology, their evolutionary patterns, and their functional diversity. I am particularly interested in the isolation of new species and the discovery of novel and relevant behaviors in protists.

Outside of research, I maintain a healthy work-life balance through a variety of hobbies. I enjoy sports, board games, reading, watching series, and going to the cinema. I also value spending time with friends, whether through meaningful conversations or simply sharing a drink.

Overall, I am a curious and motivated scientist, eager to continue developing my career through new research opportunities and collaborations.
