Graduated with a Master’s degree in microbiology in France, I fell in love with this discipline during my first year of undergraduate studies. I quickly realised that pursuing research was the right path for me, which eventually led me to marine microbial ecology and the study of heterotrophic flagellates. My research experiences have allowed me to broaden my horizons internationally and explore the aquatic world. At the ICM, during an initial internship in 2025, I worked on single-cell genomics data, studying bacterial DNA signals within single-amplified genomes (SAGs) of heterotrophic flagellates. To further develop my bioinformatics skills, I moved to Brisbane, Australia, in 2025 to work at the Australian Centre for Ecogenomics under the supervision of Paul Evans. There, I used metagenomic data to characterise bacterial communities in hot springs worldwide. Back at the ICM in 2026, I studied the core bacterial community associated with various heterotrophic flagellate cultures and its long-term dynamics for my Master’s thesis, supervised by Ramon Massana and Aleix Obiol. In this role, I worked with various omics tools (metagenomics, transcriptomics, metabarcoding) and microscopy.

Today, a dream has come true: I am working on my PhD as part of the BYGENEX project, still under the supervision of Ramon Massana and Aleix Obiol. My PhD research focuses on marker and functional genes involved in phagocytosis in these flagellates, with the aim of gaining a better understanding of the process of bacterivory and its ecological impact.

Outside the lab, I am passionate about nature, hiking, running, and horror movies. A self-confessed chocolate lover, I also enjoy photography and, above all, I have a special fondness for giving gifts and planning surprises for people! Finally, I am a total chatterbox who loves spending hours asking questions, especially when it comes to science!
