Marta Royo-Llonch

I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institut de Ciències del Mar. I obtained my PhD  (Sept. 2020), co-supervised by Dr. Acinas (ICM-CSIC) and Dr. Pedrós-Alió (CNB-CSIC). I graduated in Biology (UAB, 2012) and studied an MSc degree in Microbiology (UB, 2013).

I work on comparative genomics, microdiversity, functional analyses and biogeography with uncultured bacterial genomes (SAGs and MAGs), mainly focusing on Bacteroidetes from the world’s oceans as part of the Tara Oceans and Tara Oceans Polar Circle team.

Although most of my work relies on Bioinformatics, I also have a background in Molecular Biology lab work, bacterial isolation and culture experiments.

I am also interested in the process of designing good figures and presentations, to get the message through easily and in an appealing way. I have joined my skills in Graphic Design and my background as a Biologist and researcher co-founding Shook Studio, offering graphic design services for scientific projects, presentations and publications.
